Act of Remembrance – Honouring Courage, Sacrifice, and Legacy

The Act of Remembrance is a solemn tradition dedicated to honoring the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives in times of war and conflict. Observed most prominently on November 11th, this act marks the anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War, while also paying tribute to veterans of subsequent wars.

This ceremony is often held at monuments, memorials, and cenotaphs rather than cemeteries, bringing communities together in a shared moment of reflection. A key element of the Act of Remembrance is the observance of silence—typically two minutes—allowing individuals to pause, remember, and show respect for those who gave their lives for freedom.
